The Course

Run-Cycle-Kayak-Cycle-Hike-Cycle-61k
16.0k Run
Starting downhill the first 3k will giving you time to catch your breath as you take in the beautiful rolling landscape. The run through the Isle of Doagh, passing the Famous Famine Village and running out of tarred road at 13k. The final 3k across Pollan Beach takes you to the Bike transition area.

16.5k Cycle.
Bike transition area is located at the car park beside the beach. Starting with a 1.5k climb then relatively good / fast cycle route to the Kayak Transition area, which is located 3k from end of first cycle course. So after finishing your Kayaking you will be back on the bike for the last 3k ascend to the bike transition for start of the mountain trek. The last 1k is a steep climb and will give you a flavour of what you will encounter when getting back on your bike later.

2.0k Fun Kayak.
The kayaks are flat bottom 2 person kayaks so relax and take in the beautiful coastline as you ensure that no one passes you.

7.5k Mountain Trek
Trek starts on old cart track which is stony, boggy, and slippery. Then onto heather and rock surface. The course will be flagged and participants are requested to stay within 10m of course for H & S reasons. The long heather will slow up your decline so just take it carefully. This is a 350m climb over 3.5k and visibility may be limited due to low fog.

17.0k Cycle
The next 1.5k cycle will feel like treble that as you are ascending the toughest cycle route in Donegal. At the top you have a shark downhill but keep a bit in reserve for the next 2k which involves another long climb. After that you can let out a few cheers as the back is broke now (provided yours isn’t too.) A 5k free wheel and reasonably normal (well without a tired body) 7k takes you to the well deserved finish line.

RELAY OPTIONS (2 participants)
Relay change points are at Bike and Trek transition areas, so relay runners can choose to share the running and cycling or alternatively 1st relay person can takes on the run & trek and the 2nd do the cycles and kayak
